Taker Fee

A taker fee is a fee imposed by cryptocurrency exchanges on users who take liquidity from the order book by placing an order that is executed immediately against an existing order. In other words, takers are buyers or sellers who create market orders that are matched with existing limit orders on the exchange.

The taker fee is typically higher than the maker fee, which is the fee charged to users who add liquidity to the order book by placing limit orders that are not immediately matched. This fee structure incentivizes users to add liquidity to the market by placing limit orders rather than taking liquidity with market orders.

Taker fees can vary among exchanges and are usually expressed as a percentage of the transaction amount. They are deducted from the total amount of the transaction when it is executed. Traders should be aware of the taker fee on the exchange they are using, as it can affect the overall cost of trading.
