Chainlink Reserve Adds $1M in Latest LINK Inflow

The Chainlink Reserve recorded its fifth inflow of LINK tokens this week, adding $1 million worth of the cryptocurrency to its holdings, the project disclosed. The purchase brings the total reserve to 237,014 LINK, valued at approximately $5.3 million.

Reserve Growth Strategy

According to the update, 43,937 LINK tokens were acquired in the latest inflow. Roughly 90% of the purchase was funded through USDC swapped into LINK on the decentralised exchange Uniswap, while the remaining 10% came from fees already collected in LINK. The average cost basis of the reserve stands at $22.19 per token.

The reserve, which is built from both off-chain and on-chain revenue sources, is intended to support the network’s long-term sustainability. Enterprise agreements provide off-chain revenue, while on-chain revenue stems from service usage within the Chainlink ecosystem.

Chainlink Reserve Long-Term Holding Plans

Chainlink said the inflows are scheduled to occur on a weekly basis. No withdrawals are expected from the reserve for several years, suggesting a long-term holding strategy. The steady accumulation approach aligns with the project’s stated goal of reinforcing the financial foundation behind its decentralised infrastructure.

The reserve functions as a pool of assets separate from the circulating supply, serving as a resource to sustain operations and development. By relying on revenue streams rather than external financing, the project positions the reserve as a stabilising factor in its economic model.

Broader Market Context

Chainlink’s accumulation of LINK through a reserve mechanism comes at a time when blockchain projects are exploring ways to align token usage with revenue models. Reserves of this nature are seen as tools for signalling stability and commitment to ecosystem growth, while reducing reliance on outside funding.

The continued inflows also reflect the project’s integration of service-generated revenue into its token economy. As decentralised networks mature, linking operational income to asset reserves has emerged as a strategy to bolster confidence among participants and ensure continuity during market volatility.

Chainlink did not disclose the precise enterprise deals generating off-chain revenue, but emphasised that the combination of business partnerships and protocol-level fees provides a sustainable basis for funding the reserve.
