Auxiliary Proof of Work (AuxPoW)

Auxiliary Proof of Work (AuxPoW) is a method used in cryptocurrency to allow one blockchain to be secured by another blockchain’s hashing power. This means that a smaller and less secure blockchain can benefit from the security of a larger and more established blockchain. In AuxPoW, blocks are mined on both blockchains simultaneously. The smaller blockchain’s blocks contain references to the larger blockchain’s blocks, effectively merging the two chains.

By incorporating AuxPoW, a smaller blockchain can increase its overall security by leveraging the hashing power of a larger network. This provides benefits such as increased protection against potential attacks and improved overall reliability of the blockchain. It also allows for greater interconnectivity between different blockchains, creating a more cohesive and secure ecosystem for cryptocurrencies. AuxPoW has been used in various cryptocurrency projects to enhance security and efficiency.
