PoA (Proof of Authority)

Proof of Authority is a consensus mechanism utilized in some blockchain networks to validate transactions and secure the network. In a PoA system, transactions are validated by approved validators who are known and trusted entities within the network. These validators are typically selected based on reputation, expertise, or some predefined criteria.

The main idea behind PoA is that only a select group of validators have the authority to create new blocks and validate transactions, ensuring a secure and efficient network. This system differs from other consensus mechanisms like Proof of Work or Proof of Stake, where validators are chosen based on their computational power or amount of tokens held.

PoA is often preferred in private or consortium blockchains where the network participants are known and trusted. By restricting the validator pool to a select group of approved entities, PoA can provide faster transaction speeds and increased security compared to other consensus mechanisms.
