Proof of Activity (PoA)

Proof of Activity (PoA) is a consensus mechanism that combines Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS) protocols to validate transactions on a blockchain.

In a PoA system, miners first compete to create new blocks through PoW, similar to traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Once a block is created, it undergoes a random selection process where a set of validators confirm its validity through PoS.

This hybrid approach aims to address the energy-intensive nature of PoW while ensuring security through PoS. PoA also incentivizes both mining and staking, promoting network participation and decentralization.

Overall, PoA offers a more efficient and secure way to validate transactions on a blockchain, striking a balance between PoW and PoS mechanisms.
